People enjoy the sun at Red River Beach in Harwich, Cape Cod.

The largest beach in Harwich, Red River Beach stretches for nearly a third of a mile down Nantucket Sound. Swimmers will enjoy the warm waters protected by multiple lifeguard stations. Kids will love the gentle waves and jetties to explore. The beach is also great for long walks and is frequented by food and ice cream trucks. The parking lot runs parallel to the beach, providing easy access for families lugging around lots of gear. Daily passes are available from the attendants. The popular beach does attract crowds during peak summer season, but there’s typically enough room to find a spot and spread out.

Harwich beach stickers are required to park at town beaches from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Beach parking lots are free all other times. Weekly and seasonal passes can be used at all Harwich beaches. Day passes are sold at and valid only for Earle Road Beach, Pleasant Road Beach, Red River Beach and Long Pond.
