For visitors looking for a change of pace from the salt water ocean beaches, Sand Pond offers a nice alternative. The calm shallow water is great for young kids learning to swim. Sand pond is also popular with sailboaters and kayakers. There’s plenty of parking and easy access. There are no daily passes or lifeguards, so consider Long Pond instead if either is important to you.

Harwich beach stickers are required to park at town beaches from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Beach parking lots are free all other times. Weekly and seasonal passes can be used at all Harwich beaches. Day passes are sold at and valid only for Earle Road Beach, Pleasant Road Beach, Red River Beach and Long Pond.
